Spotting error



Read each sentence given below and find out whether there is an error in it. The error if any will be one of the parts of the sentence which are marked as 1,2,3 and 4. If there is no error, the answer will be (5) i.e. No error. (Ignore the errors of punctuation, if any)

Answers
1.   While using ‘adverb of manner, adverb of place & adverb of time in a sentence, the sequence should be MPT. Thus, silently (manner) should come before ‘the station’ (place)
2.   Here in the given sentence , the required  preposition is “between” in part (1)  of the sentence. For more than two subjects “among” is preferred.
3.  The error lies in part (4) of the sentence. The  phrase “need of “ should be  replaced with “need for”.
4.  The error lies in part (2) of the sentence. The  phrase “set for “ should be replaced with “set to”. The phrase set to means “begin doing something vigorously.”
5.  The error lies in part (3) of the sentence. Verb “have” is acquired respective to  the subject “The system”.
6.  The error lies in part (3) of the sentence. Subjects preceded with ‘both’ do not take conjunction ‘as well as’. The required conjunction is ‘And’.
7.  The error lies in part (4) of the sentence. “Met” is incorrect here. The required verb has to be in V1 –“meet”.
8.  The error lies in part (3) of the sentence.”Many” should be omitted and “Much” should be preferred.
9.  The error lies in part (2) of the sentence. The sentence is talking about “one idea” out of many ideas. Thus, the correct word “ideas” should be used.
10. The error lies in part (3) of the sentence. As, the sentence has mentioned about the definite saying (proverb), article “The” should be used in place of “an”.
